For a new account, start by opening Thunderbird and using the new account wizard:

Create some descriptive name for the account and use the real email account name:

Physics has only IMAP accounts, not POP.

Enter the first part of your account name again.

How smart is this wizard? Enter the descriptive name again.

Click Finish, but we are not done yet.

Use to Tools menu entry and pick Account Settings for your new account. Select Server Settings and change the number in the Port box to 993, then click on the SSL button below.

Now select Outgoing Server as shown:

Click edit.

Change the number in the Port box to 587, select Use name and password, and TLS.

Click OK. Send yourself a message and check your mail.
