Research Assistantships (RA)

Research Assistantships are made available by individual professors to students who have decided on their field of research. Most departmental RA appointments are made for an annual (12 months) period. The 2010-11 RA full-time annual rate is $40,800. The typical Physics Department RA rates are 52% ($21,216) for non-dissertators and 59% ($24,072) for dissertators.

Both in-state and out-of-state tuition will be waived for research assistants holding combined graduate assistant appointments of one-third time or greater. However, all students must still pay the segregated fees, which were $527.04 per semester for full time students in the 2010-11 year.
