Welcome to the University of Madison-Wisconsin Department of Physics!

For decades, the University of Wisconsin-Madison has been ranked among the top universities in the United States. The department's first Ph.D. was awarded in 1899 and since that time, thousands of students have earned undergraduate and advanced degrees from our program, in virtually every area of physics.

The Department of Physics offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

 


 

GRADUATE EDUCATION   UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION
The University of Wisconsin-Madison offers three graduate degrees in Physics: Ph.D., Professional Master of Science, and Academic Master of Arts. Undergraduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison may declare a major or double major in Physics. Honors Programs are also available.
