Imprints of Lorentz Violation in Neutrino Oscillation Experiments
Time: 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Place: Chamberlin 4274 or
Speaker: Sanjib Kumar Agarwalla, UW Madison
Abstract: Various beyond the Standard Model (BSM) scenarios may affect the outcome of next-generation high-precision neutrino oscillation experiments as the precision on the standard three-flavour mass-mixing parameters and measurements of the Dirac CP phase continue to improve in the near future. One such popular BSM scenario is neutrino interactions involving Lorentz violation (LV). In this talk, I will discuss the impact of LV on neutrino oscillations with a special emphasis on atmospheric neutrino experiments operating in the multi-GeV energy range. I will show how the CPT-violating LV parameters may alter the so-called oscillation dip and valley features in muon survival probabilities, which in turn play a crucial role to place stringent constraints on these BSM parameters. I will also demonstrate the advantage of incorporating hadron energy information (inelasticity) and charge identification capability of the detector while probing these LV parameters. At the end, if time permits, I will discuss the impact of these LV parameters on neutrino mass ordering determination and precision measurement of atmospheric oscillation parameters.
