SUMMARY:Quantum Dots and Quantum Information\, R. G. Herb Condensed Ma
tter Seminar\, Neil Zimmerman\, National Institute of Standards and Te
 chnology
DESCRIPTION:Semiconductor quantum dots have a number of applications\,
and quantum coherent manipulation of the charge or spin of electrons
is one really cool one. This talk will start with an introduction int
o quantum dots and the physics of both the Coulomb blockade and of qua
ntum information\, give a smattering of literature results on quantum
coherent manipulation of electrons in Si and GaAs dots\, and then fini
sh with some of our recent data on electrostatically-gated Si devices
 including honeycomb stability diagrams.
