SUMMARY:New Results for Electron-Neutrino Appearance in MINOS\, High E
nergy Seminar\, Prof. Mayly Sanchez\, Iowa State
DESCRIPTION:MINOS is a long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment d
esigned to
\nmake precision measurements of the neutrino mixing pa
rameters
\nassociated with the atmospheric neutrino mass splitting
. Using a
\nneutrino beam from the Main Injector (NuMI) facility a
t Fermilab\, it
\ncompares the neutrino energy spectrum for charge
d current muon
\nneutrino interactions observed in two large detec
tors located at
\nFermilab and in the Soudan mine in northern Minn
esota at a distance
\nof 735km. The MINOS Collaboration has? publi
shed the world?s best
\nmeasurement of the atmospheric mass scale
by studying muon neutrino
\ndisappearance. It has also studied the
 possibility of muon neutrinos
\noscillating into sterile neutrino
s. Beyond summarizing these recently
\npublished results\, I will
focus on describing our new results on
\nelectron neutrino appeara
nce in MINOS after three years of
\ndata-taking.
\n
