DESCRIPTION:I present details of the dysprosium (Dy) laser cooling and
  trapping apparatus at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign 
 that has recently produced a magneto-optically and magneto-statically 
 trapped Dy gas. I also discuss unique MOT/MT dynamics and anisotropic 
 sub-Doppler laser cooling of Dy. At the end of the talk\, I conclude w
 ith a current status of Dy experiment and a prospect toward quantum de
 generacy.
