R. G. Herb Condensed Matter Seminar
The quantum dot hybrid qubit - prospects for two-qubit gates
Time: 10:00 am
Place: 5310 Chamberlin Hall
Speaker: Sebastian Mehl
Abstract: The quantum dot hybrid qubit is a three-electron double quantum dot, where its operation point makes it either a spin qubit or a charge qubit. The recent advances on high fidelity single-qubit control [1] require now inter-qubit entangling gates to make this system a useful architecture for quantum computation. I present two approaches for such two-qubit gates that use either the fast transfers of electrons between quantum dots [2] or weak inter-qubit couplings at an optimal operation point [3]. Both approaches require state of the art manipulation techniques, and they can be tuned to high fidelities in the right parameter regimes. I also point out alternative approaches to realize high-fidelity two-qubit gates for hybrid qubits.
