Zig completed his PhD in physics at UW-Madison in 2017, having previously received his BS in Chemical Physics from Rice University and conducted astrophysics research in Argentina. After his doctoral work, he finished a postdoc in Brussels at ULB and spent a few years machine learning in the Bay Area at InQTel. Zig currently is a staff scientist on the Spectral and Geospatial Remote Sensing team (ISR-6) at Los Alamos National Laboratory, with main research interests in applying deep learning to hyperspectral imaging and reinforcement learning to astrodynamical systems. You can frequently find Zig somewhere in the mountains on bike or skis.
