Sharon Kahn

Sharon is our Graduate Program Manager for the Physics Ph.D. program and is an excellent resource for all graduate students (prospective, current and alumni) who have questions about how the program works. She is a strong believer in fostering independence, good citizenship and good mental health in the graduate student community. Sharon joined the department in November 2021, but has been on campus in a variety of student service-related roles for 20+ years. Her background in geology (B.A. from Carleton College, M.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Ph.D. from the University of Kansas) explains all of the rocks and maps in her office, but her interests range broadly to include baking, gardening, playing with her Weimaraner, Moxie, and spending time with her husband, Brad, and their son, EJ.
