TRANSPORTATION TO MADISON
Our travel coordinator, Dawn Suchomel, will take care of booking your flight for you through our approved travel vendor. Do not book your flight on your own! When you sign up for your visit weekend, you will list your flight preferences. Dawn will work with you to book a flight that works for your schedule. We will not be able to reimburse you for flights booked on your own. The maximum flight cost allowed is $550. For students traveling to more than one university, we reimburse a portion of the ticket cost, based on a cost comparison. For students traveling from Chicago by bus, we can prepay for VanGalder Bus tickets.
Current graduate students will meet you at the airport (look for their signs) and drop you off at your hotel at your scheduled arrival time. If you arrive later in the evening, after 10pm, you may take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. Average cost will be about $20. Be sure to save your receipt if you are taking a taxi. Those who are taking the Van Galder bus from Chicago will be dropped off on Lake Street, which is a short walk from your hotel.
REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES
The maximum reimbursement amount per person is $550. Original receipts are required for reimbursement of all travel expenses (airfare, bus fare, etc.). All expenses will be only reimbursed in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Travel Regulations. We will provide an expense reporting form which can be submitted to the Graduate Coordinator. Please Note: It takes approximately 4-5 weeks to receive your reimbursement check.
