Dr. Ona Ambrozaite is Executive Director of the Wisconsin Quantum Institute (WQI) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she leads the development and execution of outward-facing strategies to expand the impact of quantum research, education, and innovation. She builds and manages high-value partnerships across industry, government, academia, and the broader quantum ecosystem, advancing initiatives in research collaboration, philanthropy, executive education, talent development, and technology transfer. She also drives cross-campus alignment to scale quantum activities – overseeing strategic programming, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and enabling competitive grant development and industry engagement.
Previously, Ona served as Director of the US East Coast for the UK Science and Technology Network at the British Consulate General Boston, where she led science diplomacy efforts to build international partnerships, support UK policy priorities, and advance collaboration across quantum, fusion, AI, and other critical technology areas.
Ona earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Johns Hopkins University, where her research focused on developing novel 1D and 2D semiconducting quantum materials for applications in sensing, computing, and communication.
She also spearheaded the advancement of science diplomacy at Johns Hopkins in Washington, D.C., co-founding the Johns Hopkins Science Diplomacy Hub and launching the first major international Science Diplomacy Summit alongside Nobel Laureate Prof. Peter Agre. The annual summit now convenes nearly 1,000 leaders across diplomacy, academia, and policy from more than 35 countries.
With a multidisciplinary background spanning biochemistry, molecular genetics, semiconductors, and quantum information science, Ona specializes in building strategic, cross-sector partnerships that translate cutting-edge research into global impact.
