- Quantum Computation with Neutral Rubidium and Cesium Atoms
- Time: 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
- Place: 5310 Chamberlin Hall
- Speaker: Sam Norrell, Physics PhD Graduate Student
- Abstract: Arrays of individual trapped neutral alkali atoms provide a promising platform for the realization of a quantum computer. In this talk, I will report on progress towards the creation of one such device utilizing both rubidium and cesium atoms, showing preliminary experimental findings. Additionally, I will present theoretical calculations of interactions between individual rubidium and cesium atoms and the applications of these interactions towards quantum computation and error correction.
